Community Health Initiative (CHI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to achieving 100% healthcare coverage. Since its foundation in 2005, we have addressed systemic challenges with access to healthcare, locally and state wide. Collaborations with partner agencies, including businesses have allowed us to bridge health insurance gaps in our communities. We have skilled and licensed bilingual and bicultural staff who mirror the community's needs and initiates their access to the services.
CHI reaches out to families in communities who need information and assistance in enrolling in affordable health insurance plans. Just as importantly, our team follows up with families to ensure they are using their coverage and staying enrolled.
Every person will have healthcare and access to all the services needed to support healthy living in the community.
Our mission is to improve the health of children, families, and seniors by providing access to care through health insurance enrollment, patient education, and advocacy.
- Since 2005, our staff has successfully completed over 17,000 health insurance applications, increasing enrollment for previously uninsured children by 78% in Napa County.
- Each year, we enroll 1,000 new children.
- We screen over 22,000 children annually through school and other outreach events, personal visits, and phone consultations. Children who have health insurance miss fewer school days, perform better in school, and are healthier. Parents of insured children miss fewer work days. Healthy kids create a healthy community!
